A Levels and the Saudi system side by side
Jeddah's A-Level schools are licensed by the Ministry of Education, so identity subjects stay on the timetable through the sixth form. Some schools go further for their Saudi students. Waad Academy, for example, builds the Saudi curriculum into both its UK and US pathways and includes Tahsili and Qudurat in Grade 12, which keeps Saudi university entry open alongside UK applications.
That double track is demanding. A Year 13 student may be preparing for A-Level papers in May and June while also sitting Qudurat in December or digitally during the year. Plan which comes first, term by term, rather than letting both arrive at once.
Choosing subjects in Jeddah
Because each school runs only the subjects it can staff, the real choice is often between schools, not just subjects. Families aiming at medicine need Chemistry and usually Biology; engineering needs Maths and Physics, and Further Maths if the school offers it. Business and economics pathways are widely available in Jeddah's Pakistani and British schools.
The step from IGCSE to AS is steepest in Maths, Chemistry and Physics. A tutor in the first term of Year 12 usually spends time on algebra fluency for Pure Maths, mole calculations and organic mechanisms in Chemistry, and the calculus that A-Level Physics assumes.
Online lessons and Jeddah's calendar
Jeddah's public schools started 1448 on 30 August 2026, a week after Riyadh, and international schools follow similar national holidays. A-Level exams, however, run on Cambridge's international timetable, so the May/June 2027 series is not delayed for Jeddah. The Ministry's Eid al-Adha break in May sits inside that series.
Lessons are 60 minutes, one to one, in LiveTutor's online classroom. A tutor marks timed answers against Cambridge mark schemes and keeps a list of recurring errors you can see in your parent account. Evening slots after school and Friday or Saturday sessions are both available at Jeddah time, UTC+3.
Common questions
Which schools in Jeddah teach A Levels?
We verified Jeddah Prep and Grammar School, the Pakistan International School English Section, Thamer International Schools, Waad Academy and Advanced Generations International Schools. The British International School of Jeddah mentions an A-Level option alongside the IB.
Can my child do A Levels and Qudurat in the same years?
Yes, and some Jeddah schools plan for it. Paper Qudurat for 1448 is set for 10 to 14 December 2026, and the digital test runs through the year, so it can be scheduled away from A-Level exam months.
How many A Levels should my child take?
Three is standard for UK universities; some students take four, especially with Further Maths. More subjects only help if grades stay high.
What does A-Level tutoring cost?
$15 a lesson, the same for every subject. Two lessons a week is $120 a month on a monthly plan. The first lesson is a free trial.
Can we switch tutor if needed?
Yes. You can change tutor and keep your paid lessons.
