IB inside a Ministry-licensed school
IB authorisation and a Ministry of Education licence are separate things. The IB checks that a school can deliver its programmes; the Jeddah education directorate licenses the school and checks the national identity subjects, Arabic, Islamic studies and Saudi social studies, which Saudi students take in Arabic. In the PYP years these sit easily inside an inquiry curriculum. In the Diploma they become extra periods on top of six subjects, TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS.
For Saudi students the Diploma's language choice interacts with the Ministry's Arabic requirement. Ask the school whether IB Arabic counts towards it or whether Ministry Arabic is taught separately, because that decides how many periods are left for the six IB subjects.
Jeddah's calendar and the May 2027 session
Public schools in the Makkah region, including Jeddah, opened a week later than the rest of the Kingdom in 1448, on 30 August 2026, and the year runs about a week later at the end. Jeddah's international schools set their own terms, but the IB exam session does not move: May 2027 papers run from late April to mid-May, with results in early July.
Ramadan is expected to start around 8 February 2027, when Year 13 students are finishing internal assessments, and the Ministry's Eid al-Adha break in May overlaps the last week of exams. Getting IAs and the EE finished before Ramadan takes a lot of pressure off the spring.
What IB tutoring looks like
A tutor works from the current subject guide and the exact papers your child will sit. In Maths AA HL that means proof, calculus and the problem-solving Paper 3; in Biology or Chemistry it means data-based questions and the newer paper structure. Lessons use real IB-style questions and mark them against published markbands, so students learn what a 6 or 7 answer contains.
For the Extended Essay and IAs, help stays within IB academic integrity rules: the tutor discusses ideas and criteria and questions weak reasoning, but does not write or edit the work. Lessons are 60 minutes, one to one, online, at Jeddah time (UTC+3), in the evenings Sunday to Thursday or at weekends.

Is there a PYP school for younger children in Jeddah?
Yes. Jeddah Knowledge International School, Dar Jana International Schools and Bright Minds International School all run the Primary Years Programme.
Can a tutor help with IB Arabic?
Arabic-speaking tutors are available for some subjects, so ask when you book. Most of our IB lessons are taught in English.
How much do IB lessons cost?
$15 a lesson for any IB subject or level, with plans of 1 to 5 lessons a week billed monthly ($60 a month for one a week). The first lesson is a free trial.
When should a DP student start tutoring?
Early in DP1 for HL Maths and sciences, when concepts build quickly. For IAs and the EE, start as soon as the topic is chosen, not near the deadline.
