Frequently asked questions

Find answers to the most common questions about LiveTutor.

What is LiveTutor?

LiveTutor is a premium online tutoring platform connecting Middle Eastern families with verified British and American-accent tutors. We offer one-on-one sessions in Mathematics, English, French, Arabic, Science, humanities, Islamic Studies, SAT preparation, and IGCSE subjects.

How do you verify tutor accents?

All our tutors go through a rigorous screening process that includes accent verification through standardized assessments. We ensure that our tutors can deliver lessons with clear British or American accents as advertised.

What subjects do you offer?

Mathematics and Further Maths, English Language and Literature, French, Arabic, Spanish, German, Urdu and Hindi, the three sciences, Computer Science and ICT, Business, Economics and Accounting, Geography, History, Psychology, Sociology, Politics, Islamic Studies and Global Perspectives, plus SAT, ACT, AP, IELTS, TOEFL and UCAT preparation. The subjects page carries the full list.

How much does tutoring cost?

Online tutoring is $15 per hour, for every subject and level. You book lessons as you need them, there are no packages to buy, and your first lesson is free.

Do you offer home tutoring?

No. Every LiveTutor lesson is online and one-to-one. Keeping to one format is how we hold a single rate of $15 per hour across all six countries we serve, with no travel time to pay for.

How do refunds and cancellations work?

Cancel or reschedule a lesson 48 hours or more before it starts and you are refunded in full, with no fee. Inside 48 hours the lesson is charged, because the tutor has held the time. If a tutor cancels or does not attend, you are refunded in full or you pick another time.

Can I cancel or stop at any time?

Yes. There is no subscription and no minimum term, so there is nothing to cancel. You simply stop booking lessons, and nothing further is charged.

How many free trials can a family have?

One per household. The free trial is a full lesson for your child, funded by us, and it is limited to one per family, so it cannot be claimed twice with a second email address or a second card. If a second child would like to try, message us on WhatsApp and we will arrange it.

What age groups do you serve?

We serve students from primary school (ages 7+) through high school (ages 18), including AP and IB level students.

Which countries do you serve?

We primarily serve families in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman. Our tutors are available in your timezone (GMT+3 to GMT+4).

Can I change my child's tutor?

Yes. If the tutor is not the right fit, you can choose a different one at no additional cost. We want your child to have the best possible learning experience.

What platform do you use for sessions?

Lessons open inside the LiveTutor classroom with video, audio, chat, and screen sharing. Sessions are not recorded by default.

Do you offer group sessions?

Currently we focus on one-on-one tutoring to provide the most personalized experience for each student. Group sessions may be introduced in the future.

How does the free trial work?

Your first lesson is a full one-to-one lesson with a tutor you choose yourself, and it costs nothing. You pick the tutor, we confirm them on WhatsApp, and the lesson lands on your calendar with a video link.

Why do you ask for a card before a free trial?

So that booking lessons after the trial takes one tap instead of a payment form every time, and so the free lesson stays one per household. You will not be charged when you add the card. Your card is charged only when a tutor confirms a booked lesson, at $15 per hour.

Why are tutor names hidden until I book?

You see each tutor's photo, star rating, experience, qualifications, subjects, accent and voice introduction, which is everything you need to judge the teaching. The name is revealed the moment a booking is confirmed. It keeps the choice focused on how someone teaches, and it protects our tutors from being contacted off the platform.
