A-Level tutors in Doha: sixth forms, exams and university timing

In Doha, A-Levels are taught in the sixth forms of British schools such as Doha College, Park House English School, Sherborne Qatar, King's College Doha and Doha British School, mostly with Cambridge International or Pearson Edexcel. Schools answer to Qatar's Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) and follow its calendar, which runs from 30 August 2026 to mid-June 2027. Summer papers fall in May and June 2027, while UK university applications are due earlier, so predicted grades from Year 12 and the first term of Year 13 carry real weight. Online tutoring suits the free time after a Sunday to Thursday week.

What A-Level looks like in a Doha sixth form

Most Doha students choose three A-Levels, sometimes four, after IGCSEs in Year 11. Doha British School is one of several that offer a choice at 16: national A-Levels or the IB Diploma, so families should weigh the two before Year 11 options evenings. Schools usually split the course into AS content in Year 12 and full A-Level in Year 13; whether the AS is certificated depends on the board and the school, so ask.

Results in Doha's larger sixth forms are published openly. Doha College reported 56% A*-A at A-Level in 2025, and Park House reported a 100% A-Level pass rate in the same year. Those figures describe whole cohorts, not what any single student will get, but they show where the bar sits when teachers set predicted grades.

Private A-Level entries and retakes in Qatar

A student who has left school, or who wants to resit one subject, can enter through the British Council in Qatar for the May/June or October/November series with Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel. Most A-Level candidates are already 18, which removes the need for the MOEHE No Objection Letter that under-18s must provide, but a valid Qatar ID and payment before processing are still required. Science A-Levels have practical requirements, so check with the board before entering privately.

Students whose summer 2026 papers were cancelled (Pearson called off its May/June 2026 school exams in Qatar because of the regional conflict) and who chose to defer rather than take an evidence-based grade will sit in May/June 2027, which Pearson named as the next available series.

How one-to-one online A-Level lessons work from Doha

A-Level tutoring is most useful when it is narrow. A chemistry tutor, for example, will take a student's last test, find that the marks went on mechanisms and calculations, and spend lessons on exactly those, with board-specific past questions between sessions. For maths, the focus is usually pure method and exam timing. Lessons run 60 minutes at a fixed weekly time, often a weekday evening in Qatar time or a Saturday morning before Year 13 mocks. Every subject is $15 a lesson and the first lesson is free.

Do not leave the subject choice to September

Some university courses need specific A-Levels, such as chemistry for medicine. Check entry requirements before Year 12 choices close, because switching in October costs weeks of content.
