How CBSE schooling runs in Qatar
Indian schools in Doha keep India's academic year, which starts in April, rather than the August start used by British and American schools. That means Class 10 and Class 12 begin in spring, the long summer break falls in Qatar's hottest months, and board exams arrive less than a year after the class begins. The board, the NCERT textbooks and the marking scheme are identical to schools in India, so CBSE sample papers and previous years' papers apply directly.
As private schools in Qatar, CBSE schools are licensed by MOEHE and must teach Arabic, Islamic education (for Muslim students) and Qatar history in separate periods, under the ministry's compulsory subjects policy. Doha is two and a half hours behind India, so a 5pm lesson in Doha is 7:30pm in India.

What a CBSE tutor does in online lessons
For Class 10, lessons follow the NCERT chapters in the order the school teaches them, with extra time on the chapters that carry the most marks and cause the most trouble, such as trigonometry, quadratic equations and electricity. For Class 12, a tutor balances the board syllabus with the deeper problem-solving that JEE or NEET needs, which school timetables rarely cover. Practice uses CBSE sample papers and marking schemes, so students learn how answers are scored step by step. Lessons are 60 minutes at $15, timed after school in Doha, and the first is a free trial.
Start before the April term
Because the CBSE year starts in April, the weeks between the Class 9 final exams and the start of Class 10 are the best time to fix weak maths and science foundations.
Common questions
Do CBSE students in Doha sit the same board exams as in India?
Yes. Class 10 and Class 12 students in Doha sit CBSE's board exams on the same papers and the same marking scheme, normally at their own school or a nearby CBSE centre.
When does the CBSE academic year start in Qatar?
In April, following India's academic year, not in August like British or American schools in Doha.
Is the Class 10 second board exam compulsory?
No. From 2026 CBSE added a second Class 10 exam in May for students who want to improve their scores. The February to March exam remains the main one.
Can a tutor help with JEE or NEET from Doha?
Yes. Tutors who teach CBSE physics, chemistry, maths and biology can combine board preparation with entrance-level problem solving. NTA has listed overseas exam cities for NEET in recent years; check the current bulletin.
How much do CBSE lessons with LiveTutor cost in Qatar?
$15 per 60-minute lesson for any class or subject, on a plan of 1 to 5 lessons a week billed monthly. The first lesson is free.
