How much does online tutoring cost in Bahrain in 2026?

Published online tutoring prices in Bahrain in 2026 run from about BHD 6 an hour on open marketplaces to BHD 39 for premium international-curriculum tutors. Filo lists Bahrain maths tutors at BHD 6 to 23 an hour; TutorChase lists BHD 20 to 39, from BHD 24. Fewer dated local price surveys exist for Bahrain than for Qatar or Kuwait, so compare quotes directly and ask what each price includes. Regulation is tightening for tuition providers: in December 2025 the Shura Council approved a law bringing education service providers under Ministry of Education licensing. LiveTutor is $15 per 60-minute lesson, any subject.

Reading the range

The gap between BHD 6 and BHD 39 is mostly about who the tutor is and what they teach. Marketplace rates at the low end are often set by tutors building a profile or teaching general school support; rates at the top are for tutors who specialise in IGCSE, A Level, IB or AP and who mark work against exam-board mark schemes. Neither end is right for every child: a Year 5 pupil practising times tables needs something different from a Year 13 student chasing an A* prediction.

Bahrain has a large international-school sector, and families at British, American and IB schools usually need tutors who know the exact board and course, which narrows the pool and pushes towards the upper half of the range. Families following the Ministry of Education's national curriculum should look for tutors who know that curriculum and can explain in Arabic.

Timing affects both price and availability. Demand rises before mock exams and again in the spring before the May and June exam series, and the best-reviewed tutors fill their after-school slots first. Booking a regular weekly slot at the start of the school year is usually easier than looking for an exam specialist in April.

The new rules for education providers

In December 2025 the Shura Council unanimously approved a 36-article law regulating private educational institutions, replacing legislation from 1998. According to Gulf Daily News, it brings kindergartens, special education centres and education service providers under a single supervisory authority, the Ministry of Education; sets warnings, suspensions and fines of up to BHD 100,000 for violations; and makes operating without a licence punishable by up to a year in prison. At the time of the report the bill was awaiting royal ratification. For families, the practical point is to ask a tuition centre whether it is licensed.

Questions to ask before you pay

  1. Does the tutor teach your child's exact board and course?
  2. If it is a centre, is it licensed by the Ministry of Education?
  3. Is the hourly rate the same month to month, or only in a prepaid bundle?
  4. What notice is needed to cancel or move a lesson?
  5. Will you hear what was covered after each lesson?

Where LiveTutor sits

LiveTutor is online only, one to one, 60 minutes, at one flat rate of $15 for every subject and level, from primary reading to A Level physics. Families choose a weekly plan of 1 to 5 lessons billed monthly: one lesson a week is $60 a month and two is $120. The first lesson is a free trial, there is a 7-day money-back guarantee before the first paid lesson, and families can switch tutor and keep their paid lessons. Tutors teach the curricula they list, including Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA, IB and American courses.
