CBSE in Dubai: the numbers and the structure
Indian schools are the fastest way to see how big CBSE is in Dubai. KHDA's 2024-25 data shows 34 Indian-curriculum schools, the same number as the year before, with enrollment rising from 95,268 to 99,603. Because the number of schools is not growing, the schools are large: that is an average of nearly 3,000 students per school, from KG to Class 12. A small number of KHDA's Indian schools follow the CISCE board (ICSE and ISC) rather than CBSE, so check the affiliation on the school's site.
CBSE is an Indian national board, and Dubai schools that follow it are affiliated directly to CBSE in New Delhi. In February 2024 India announced CBSE's first overseas Regional Office and Centre of Excellence in Dubai, and it began operating on 2 July 2024. All CBSE schools abroad now fall under it, which brings exam administration, teacher training and affiliation queries closer to Dubai families.

Fitting lessons around a CBSE school day in Dubai
Indian schools in Dubai follow KHDA's weekly rules, so the Friday school day has ended by 11:30am since January 2026. Several large Indian schools run early starts and some run shifts, which means a Class 10 student may be home by early afternoon. Many families also book coaching for JEE or NEET in Class 11 and 12, so tutoring has to fit around it. In practice the slots that work are 4pm to 6pm on school days, Friday afternoon, and weekend mornings.
The April start changes when tutoring helps most. The first term, April to June, is when Class 10 and 12 syllabuses are introduced at speed, and the period from October to January is pre-boards. A tutor booked in April keeps pace with the syllabus; one booked in December is mostly doing sample papers and revision.
What a CBSE tutor does in lessons
Lessons follow the NCERT textbooks and the CBSE syllabus for the year, chapter by chapter. For Class 10 Maths the tutor checks whether the student is on Standard or Basic Mathematics and works on the case-based and competency questions that now make up a large part of the paper. For Class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Maths, the tutor works through derivations, numericals and the NCERT exercises before moving to CBSE sample papers and previous years' questions under timed conditions. Accountancy and Economics students get the same treatment with formats and presentation, which carry marks of their own.
