Who takes the SAT in Sharjah
The main group is students at Sharjah's American-curriculum schools, which are growing: three of the six new private schools SPEA licensed for 2026-27 follow the American curriculum. Some Sharjah schools build the SAT into their assessment cycle: Beaconhouse Al Khaleej International School in Al Azra lists MAP, PSAT, SAT and AP among its benchmarks, so students meet the PSAT before they register for the SAT itself. Students at IB and British schools in Sharjah who apply to US colleges make up the rest.
Universities in the UAE, including those in Sharjah's University City, set their own admission requirements, and some programmes ask for or consider SAT scores. Check each target university's admissions page early in Grade 11.

Why the Sharjah week helps
International SAT dates fall on Saturdays, which in Sharjah is the middle of the weekend, so students never sit the test straight after a school day. The same three-day weekend suits preparation: a 60-minute lesson on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, a timed practice module on Sunday, and a lighter check-in during the school week. Test centres in Sharjah can be limited for a given date, and families should be ready to book a centre in Dubai if the nearest one is full; preparation itself happens at home, online.
What SAT lessons involve
The tutor begins with a full Bluebook practice test or the student's PSAT report, then works through the weakest skills one at a time. For many Sharjah students who speak Arabic at home, Reading and Writing points come back fastest from grammar rules and transitions questions, which follow a small set of patterns. In Math, the work is pacing and accuracy, plus using the built-in Desmos calculator to check answers quickly. Every few weeks a full practice test shows whether the plan is working.
Common questions
Can my child sit the SAT in Sharjah?
Check the College Board's test centre search for your chosen date. Centres in Sharjah may be limited, and many Sharjah families also book centres in Dubai.
Is the PSAT worth taking?
Yes, if your school offers it. It uses the same skills as the SAT and gives a detailed report that shows where to focus preparation.
How much time should SAT preparation take?
Most students do well with 8 to 12 weeks of regular work before a sitting. Sharjah's weekend makes a weekly lesson plus a timed module realistic alongside school.
How much do SAT lessons cost in Sharjah?
$15 a lesson, the same flat rate as all subjects. Plans run from 1 to 5 lessons a week billed monthly, with a free first lesson for your household.
