UAE MOE curriculum tutors in Sharjah: the national curriculum on a four-day week

In Sharjah the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum is taught in government schools and in private schools licensed by the Sharjah Private Education Authority, some of which combine it with another curriculum. What makes Sharjah different is the week: since January 2022 all Sharjah schools have taught Monday to Thursday, so MOE students cover the same national curriculum as the rest of the UAE in four days, with end-of-term exams in each of three terms. LiveTutor offers one-to-one online MOE lessons in maths, sciences and English at $15, with weekend slots.

Where the MOE curriculum is taught in Sharjah

Many Emirati students in Sharjah attend government schools, which teach the national MOE curriculum. Alongside them, SPEA licenses private schools across 9 curricula, and the MOE curriculum is one of them. Some private schools teach it on its own; others combine it with an international programme. The American School of Creative Science on Maliha Road, for example, teaches the American curriculum alongside the MOE curriculum and integrates the two from pre-KG to Grade 12.

We have not listed more private MOE schools here because we could not verify each school's current curriculum from SPEA's public data. SPEA's school listings show the curriculum of every licensed school, and the school itself can confirm which stream and textbooks it uses in Grades 9 to 12.

Four school days, three days for catching up

Sharjah's four-day week is the biggest practical difference for MOE students. The national curriculum's weekly content is covered from Monday to Thursday, and homework that would be spread over five days arrives over four. For many families the weekend becomes the time to consolidate: a Saturday lesson to go back over the week's maths or physics, and a Sunday evening check before school restarts. In the fortnight before each end-of-term block, adding a weekday evening lesson at around 6pm GMT+4 helps.

Many Sharjah parents commute to Dubai and get home late, which makes driving a child to a tutor on a school night hard. Online lessons at home avoid that, and an older sibling or parent can sit in where useful.

What an MOE tutor does in lessons

The tutor works from the student's textbook and the term's topics, focusing on what the next end-of-term exam will test. Advanced-stream students get more multi-step problems in maths and physics; General-stream students get steady practice on the core methods and question formats. Because MOE science and maths use English terminology in many schools, lessons build vocabulary alongside method. Lessons are taught in English; Arabic-speaking tutors are available for some subjects, so ask when you book.
