American curriculum tutors in Jeddah: middle school, high school and AP

Jeddah has more American-curriculum choice than most Saudi cities. American International School of Jeddah teaches to AERO standards with AP and AP Capstone; Jeddah Knowledge International School offers an American Diploma alongside the IB; and Dar Jana, Waad Academy, Thamer International Schools and Jeddah Private International Schools award US-style diplomas, several with Cognia or NEASC accreditation. All are licensed by the Saudi Ministry of Education. LiveTutor matches Jeddah students with tutors who teach US math, English, science and AP courses, in one-to-one online lessons that keep pace with class units and grades.

Two sets of rules: US standards and the Ministry

Accreditation from MSA, NEASC or Cognia tells universities that a Jeddah school's American diploma meets US standards. The Ministry of Education's licence is what lets the school operate, and it brings the requirement to teach Arabic, Islamic studies and Saudi social studies, in Arabic for Saudi students. Schools such as Al-Andalus make the link explicit by running a national track and an American track side by side.

For families, the practical difference between schools is often the high-school end: which AP courses actually run, how the GPA is weighted, and whether the diploma's accreditation suits the universities your child is aiming at, in Saudi Arabia or abroad.

Grades, AP and Jeddah's calendar

In US-style schools every quarter counts. Homework completion, quizzes and unit tests make up the semester grade, and from Grade 9 they make up the GPA. AP courses add a May exam on top: the College Board runs AP exams over the first two weeks of May, and in 2027 that sits just before and into the Ministry's Eid al-Adha break.

Jeddah's public schools started 1448 on 30 August 2026, a week later than Riyadh, and run to around 1 July 2027. International schools set their own dates, but if your child's school follows the Makkah-region pattern, its semester exams and holidays may land a week later than friends' schools in Riyadh.

What an online tutor does for an American-school student

Weekly support beats last-minute rescue in this system. A tutor follows the class unit, checks homework understanding before it is graded, and prepares for unit tests. In English that means essay structure, evidence and revision; in math it means the current course, from pre-algebra to AP Calculus BC; in science it means lab reports and problem sets.

Lessons are 60 minutes, one to one, in LiveTutor's online classroom, with a shared whiteboard for working. After-school slots at Jeddah time and Friday or Saturday sessions are available, and you see each lesson in your parent account.

Common questions

Which Jeddah schools offer AP courses?

American International School of Jeddah (including AP Capstone), Dar Jana International Schools and Waad Academy state that they offer AP. Ask each school which AP courses run in your child's year.

Is AISJ open to Saudi students?

Admission rules differ by school and change over time, so ask AISJ's admissions office directly. Several other Jeddah schools, such as Al-Andalus and Dar Jana, enrol Saudi and expatriate students.

Can a tutor help raise my child's GPA?

A tutor can improve the work that feeds the GPA: homework quality, test preparation and essays. Grades depend on the student's work, so we never promise a GPA.

How much do lessons cost?

$15 a lesson for any grade or AP subject, on a plan of 1 to 5 lessons a week billed monthly ($60 a month for one a week). The first lesson is a free trial.

Do you offer SAT preparation too?

Yes. SAT preparation is available at the same rate; see our SAT page for Jeddah.
