Start times in the Gulf
From 2027 start times are set by the UTC offset in May to stop exam content leaking across time zones. The Gulf does not use daylight saving, so the offsets below hold all year.

Clashes, late testing and students without an AP school
Two exams in the same session count as a clash. The coordinator orders a late-testing exam for one of them, taken in the third week of May on an alternate form. Most clash-related late testing carries no extra fee. Check clashes now, because the late-testing order has to be in by 4 May 2027 outside the US.
Students whose school does not offer AP can still sit the exams at another school or a College Board authorised test centre, but they have to find one that will accept them and be ordered by that school's deadline. Start asking in September or October. Fees at authorised test centres outside the US may differ from the $129 school fee.
Ramadan 1448 is expected to fall in February and early March 2027 and Eid al-Adha in mid-May, so the exam weeks sit between the two in most of the Gulf. Saudi schools start their Eid al-Adha break in early May, which means some students will sit AP exams during a school holiday.
A study plan for the final eight weeks
- Mid March: finish content and take one full released exam per subject under timed conditions.
- Late March to mid April: work through free-response questions by type, marking them against the published scoring guidelines.
- Mid to late April: two more timed full exams per subject, in Bluebook where the exam is digital or hybrid, so the interface is familiar.
- Final week: short daily review, formula sheets and past FRQ errors, not new topics.
How a tutor helps in the run-up to AP week
Most lost marks on AP exams are on the free-response section, where students know the content but do not show the reasoning the scoring guidelines reward. A tutor who teaches the course marks your child's FRQs against the official rubric, spots the patterns, and plans the last weeks around the subjects with the most room to move. Lessons are 60 minutes, one to one and online, so they can sit around the Gulf school day.

What time do AP exams start in Dubai or Riyadh?
In the UAE and Oman, Session 1 starts at 11 a.m. and Session 2 at 3 p.m. In Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain, Session 1 starts at 10 a.m. and Session 2 at 2 p.m. Confirm with College Board's lookup tool for your school.
What is the deadline to register for AP exams?
Schools must submit exam orders by 13 November 2026. Orders after that cost an extra $40 per exam until 12 March 2027. Your school will set an earlier internal deadline, so ask the AP coordinator now.
