US standards under a Saudi licence

Saudi International School Dhahran states the arrangement most clearly: an enriched US curriculum with full compliance with Ministry of Education requirements for Islamic Education, Arabic Language and Social Studies. Every American school in the region works the same way. US accreditation, from MSA, Cognia or similar, covers the American diploma; the Ministry licence covers the right to operate and the national identity subjects.

Admission rules differ: some schools in the region historically served expatriate families, while others enrol mainly Saudi students. Ask each school directly about eligibility before planning around it.

GPA, AP and the 2026-27 year

American schools grade continuously, so a student's GPA is built from every quarter from Grade 9. A weak semester is hard to undo later, which is why steady weekly support usually works better than a crash course. AP courses add a final exam in the first two weeks of May; in 2027 those dates sit just before and into the Ministry's Eid al-Adha break, 7 to 22 May.

Public schools in the Eastern Province started 1448 on 23 August 2026 and finish on 24 June 2027. International schools set their own calendars, often starting slightly later, but share national holidays and Ramadan hours.

How online lessons help

A tutor keeps pace with your child's current course, from middle school math to AP Calculus or AP Chemistry, checks homework understanding, and prepares for unit tests and finals. For English, lessons work on reading analysis and essay writing, which carry heavy weight in US grading.

Lessons are 60 minutes, one to one, in LiveTutor's online classroom, so families in Dhahran, Al Khobar, Dammam or Jubail have the same access. Sessions run after school Sunday to Thursday or at weekends, at UTC+3.

Can we request a tutor with an American accent?

Yes, you can state an accent preference when you book; we match by curriculum first.
