How Edexcel results reach students
Pearson gives schools a restricted release the day before results day so that exams officers can prepare. Students then receive results from the school on results day. Private candidates get results from the centre that entered them.
For International A Level, which is modular, the results slip shows a UMS (uniform mark scale) score for each unit and for the overall qualification. Pearson explains that raw marks are converted to UMS so that results from different exam sessions can be combined fairly. For International GCSE, which is linear, the result is a grade from 9 to 1 for the whole qualification.
Grade boundaries appear on Pearson's grade boundaries page. The June 2026 documents were posted on 13 August 2026 for International A Level and 20 August 2026 for International GCSE.
Post-results services: what Pearson offers
| Service | What it is | Pearson's completion target |
|---|---|---|
| Clerical check (Service 1) | Checks every part was marked, totals were added correctly and boundaries applied | Within 10 calendar days of the request |
| Review of marking (Service 2) | A senior examiner reviews the original marking, plus a clerical check | Within 20 calendar days |
| Priority review of marking (Service P2) | Same as Service 2, processed faster, usually when a university place depends on it | Within 15 calendar days |
| Access to scripts | A copy of the marked paper, requested alongside a review if you want to see it | Fee applies |

On results day and the week after
- Ask the school in advance how and when it will release results, and who handles post-results requests.
- If a grade is unexpected, ask for the raw marks per paper and compare them with Pearson's grade boundaries for that series.
- Schools submit review requests through Edexcel Online and need the student's permission first, because a review can lower a mark.
- If a university place depends on the outcome, ask about the priority review (Service P2).
- If a resit is the better route, check the next series: International GCSE runs in November and May/June, and IAL in January, May/June and October.
After a disappointing result
IAL is modular: Pearson notes that its units can be taken in different exam sessions during the course, so a weak unit can be sat again in a later series. A tutor can look at the unit scores, work out where the marks were lost, and plan resit preparation around the next IAL sitting.

Common questions
When are Edexcel International GCSE results in 2027?
November 2026 International GCSE results are released to students on 21 January 2027. Summer 2027 International GCSE results come out on 19 August 2027.
When are IAL results for the January 2027 series?
Pearson releases them to schools on 3 March 2027 and to students on 4 March 2027.
Can a review of marking lower my child's grade?
Yes. Pearson states that after a clerical check or review of marking, marks or grades can go up, down or stay the same. That is why schools must get the student's permission before applying.
Do private candidates get results the same day?
Yes, through the centre that entered them. Pearson also says private candidates can ask for post-results services through that centre or by contacting Pearson directly.
Can LiveTutor help my child prepare for a resit?
Yes. Tutors who teach the Edexcel specification work on the papers or units that cost the grade. Lessons are $15 each on a weekly plan, with a free first lesson.
