What is a good Qudurat score? What 65, 70, 78 and 81 really mean

Qudurat (the General Aptitude Test) has no pass mark. It is scored out of 100 and read against everyone else who took it: according to ETEC, 65 is about average, 70 puts a student in the top 30%, 73 in the top 20%, 78 in the top 10% and 81 in the top 5%. A good score is the one your child's target programme needs once it is combined with the secondary school average and, for most programmes, Tahsili in the weighted percentage. Health programmes carry the highest weighted minimums, so they need the strongest scores.

Good for what? The weighted percentage

Saudi universities rank applicants on a weighted percentage (النسبة الموزونة) that combines the secondary school average, Qudurat and usually Tahsili. Saudipedia gives a commonly used split of 30% school average, 30% Qudurat and 40% Tahsili, and notes that each university sets the weighted percentage each college and programme requires. Weights do differ: King Faisal University's admission conditions for 1442/1443, for example, used 30/30/40 for medicine, veterinary medicine and business, but 60% school and 40% Qudurat for male applicants to some other colleges.

Because the weights change the picture, the same Qudurat score can be comfortable for one programme and short for another. A student with 95% at school, 72 in Qudurat and 80 in Tahsili has a weighted percentage of 0.3 x 95 + 0.3 x 72 + 0.4 x 80 = 82.1 on a 30/30/40 split. Raising Qudurat to 80 lifts that to 84.5. Our weighted score calculator lets you try the weights from your target university's admission guide.

What weighted minimums looked like at one university

King Faisal University's published admission conditions for 1442/1443 show how much requirements differ by college. These are minimums to enter the competition, not the scores that won places, and they change every year.

Retake or not?

Each student has five Qudurat attempts in total, and a score stays valid for five years. Because universities receive the highest valid score, a retake carries little risk to the score itself; the cost is time that could go into school grades and Tahsili, which carries more weight in many formulas. A retake makes sense when the section scores show a clear, fixable weakness, such as quantitative speed or analogies in the verbal section, and when there is time for six to eight weeks of focused practice before the next sitting.

How lessons help

Qudurat rewards speed and accuracy on familiar question types more than new knowledge. A tutor works from the student's own practice results: timed sections, then a review that sorts each lost mark by cause (arithmetic, reading the question, guessing under time pressure), followed by drills on that type. LiveTutor lessons are one to one, 60 minutes and online; Arabic-speaking tutors are available for some subjects, so ask when you book if you want the verbal section taught in Arabic.

Common questions

Is 70 a good Qudurat score?

It places a student in the top 30% of test takers. Whether it is enough depends on the programme's weights and minimum weighted percentage; health programmes set the highest bars.

Is 80 a good Qudurat score?

Yes. It is in the top 10% (78 or more) and close to the top 5% (81 or more).

Which score do universities see if my child takes Qudurat more than once?

ETEC sends the highest valid score to the unified admission platform, so a lower later score does not replace a better earlier one.

Is Qudurat or Tahsili more important?

It depends on the formula. On a 30/30/40 split Tahsili carries more weight, but some colleges weight Qudurat and the school average more. Check the programme's admission guide.

How much do Qudurat lessons cost with LiveTutor?

Each one-to-one 60-minute lesson is $15, on a weekly plan of 1 to 5 lessons billed monthly. The first lesson is a free trial.
